In 1985, Pamela K. Wiggins was one of the first women to become certified as a Lactation Consultant. At the time she was working in a hospital based WIC program in Florida. She saw the need for easy to understand breastfeeding information for parents and began working on the first edition of Why Should I Nurse My Baby?.
Over the years, Pam’s book has helped millions of families. Her business, LA Publishing, is still run by her family and now offers many products to teach parents. We are a woman-owned small business.
Pamela K. Wiggins, IBCLC
Pam Wiggins, IBCLC, is considered one of the pioneers in lactation consulting. She became an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant in 1985. She has helped breastfeeding mothers for over 35 years, having worked for hospitals, in a private practice, WIC and as a La Leche League leader.
She is the author of several books and produced a DVD about breastfeeding. She has also been published in numerous periodicals. Pam and her husband have three children and ten grandchildren, who were all nursed!
Joanna Wiggins Garofalo
Joanna Wiggins Garofalo, Pam’s daughter, has a degree in communications from the University of Richmond in Virginia. She has been working with her mom for over twelve years. She and her husband have four breastfed children and manage LA Publishing together.
Eric Garofalo
After working as a computer consultant for many years, Eric joined LA Publishing. In addition to attending conferences, he oversees the design of all of the products and keeps the computers from driving people crazy.
